Genuine VDO gauges, priced online
VDO is Continental's brand for vehicle instruments, senders and sensors. Its analogue gauges are fitted to cars, bakkies, 4x4s, trucks, buses, tractors, generators and boats, and the VDO part number printed on the back of a gauge or sender is the number to order by. We stock genuine VDO, and Omnitronix is an authorised VDO distributor, so every gauge, sender and sensor on Omnipart is the original part with the manufacturer's warranty. Every VDO listing shows its price, and you can order by part number, by EAN or from the categories further down this page.
The marine and specialty instrument range that used to carry the VDO Marine name is now made by Veratron. Those gauges, displays and sensors are listed under Veratron and in the marine categories below, and they use the same sizes and sender ranges as their VDO equivalents.
The VDO gauge series
Cockpit International
The classic VDO gauge: black face, white pointer and a chrome or black triangular bezel. Pressure, temperature, fuel, voltmeter, ammeter and hour meter gauges are 52 mm; tachometers come in 52, 80 and 100 mm. Most electrical gauges are made in separate 12 V and 24 V versions, and there are mechanical pressure and capillary temperature gauges that need no sender at all.
Cockpit Vision
A more modern face for cars and performance builds, in 52 mm gauges, 52, 80 and 100 mm tachometers up to 8 000 rpm, and a 140 mm speedometer. Each gauge is listed with its mounting, either a spin ring or a stud and bracket, so check which suits your panel.
SingleViu
SingleViu gauges run on both 12 V and 24 V, which suits mixed fleets and plant. The range covers oil and brake pressure, turbo boost, coolant, oil and transmission temperature, fuel and AdBlue level, voltmeters, ammeters and a 1 000 °C pyrometer, with 80 and 100 mm tachometers and speedometers. Listings marked "gauge only" do not include the sender.
ViewLine
ViewLine instruments use 52, 85 and 110 mm housings, with round, triangular and flat bezels in black, chrome and white, plug-in 8-pin and 14-pin connector sets, and 30, 60 and 100 A ammeter shunts.
OceanLink
OceanLink is the marine gauge line, in black or white faces with 85 mm bezels: oil pressure, transmission pressure, coolant and oil temperature, boost, battery voltage, fresh water level, depth and GPS speedometers. Many marine lines are quoted to order: add them to a quote and the parts desk confirms the price.
Gauge sizes and supply voltage
Measure the hole in your panel before you choose. 52 mm is the standard size for pressure, temperature, fuel, voltmeter, ammeter and hour meter gauges; tachometers and speedometers are 80 mm or 100 mm. Bezels and mounting cups are size-specific, so order them in the same size as the gauge.
Most cars and bakkies run on 12 V; trucks, buses and much earthmoving plant run on 24 V. A 12 V gauge on a 24 V system will fail, so match the voltage in the product name to the vehicle, or choose SingleViu, which works on both. Mechanical gauges read the pressure or temperature directly through a pipe or a capillary, so they need power only for the lighting.
Matching a gauge to its sender
An electrical gauge reads the resistance of a sender fitted to the engine or tank, so the gauge and the sender must share the same resistance range. The common VDO ranges are 10 to 184 Ω for oil pressure, 287.5 to 22.7 Ω for coolant temperature (40 to 120 °C), 322.8 to 18.6 Ω for oil temperature (50 to 150 °C) and 482.5 to 14.3 Ω for temperatures up to 200 °C. Fuel gauges come in two families: 3 to 180 Ω for lever-arm senders and 90 to 3 Ω for tubular senders. A gauge on a sender from the other family reads backwards or not at all.
Then match the thread to the port: VDO senders come in 1/8"-27 NPTF, 1/2"-14 NPTF, 5/8"-18 UNF, M10x1, M12x1.5, M14x1.5 and M18x1.5. Pressure senders also come in 5, 10 and 25 bar ranges, with or without a warning contact for a low-pressure lamp, and in insulated-return versions for engines without a chassis earth, which is common on boats.
Ordering by part number or EAN
Type the VDO part number into the search box exactly as it is printed, for example 350-040-011G or A2C3833450030. You can also search by the EAN barcode on the box where the listing carries one, and many senders and sensors list the vehicle maker's OE number on the product page. If you cannot find a part, send the number to the parts desk and we will cross-reference it.

VDO gauge questions
Are the VDO gauges on Omnipart genuine?
Yes. Omnitronix is an authorised VDO distributor, and every VDO gauge, sender and sensor on Omnipart is the genuine part, covered by the VDO warranty.
Which VDO sender do I need for my gauge?
The sender must have the same resistance range as the gauge and the same thread as the port in the engine or tank. VDO oil pressure gauges read 10 to 184 ohm senders, coolant temperature gauges read 287.5 to 22.7 ohm, and fuel gauges read either 3 to 180 ohm lever senders or 90 to 3 ohm tubular senders. Where the product name does not give the range, ask the parts desk to confirm the pairing before you order.
Will a 12 V VDO gauge work on a 24 V vehicle?
Usually not. Most Cockpit International and Cockpit Vision gauges are made in separate 12 V and 24 V versions, so match the voltage in the product name to the vehicle. SingleViu gauges work on both 12 V and 24 V.
What size VDO gauge do I need?
Measure the hole in the panel. Pressure, temperature, fuel, voltmeter, ammeter and hour meter gauges are 52 mm; tachometers and speedometers are 80 mm or 100 mm. Order bezels and mounting cups in the same size as the gauge.
Can I order by VDO part number or EAN?
Yes. Type the VDO part number into the search box exactly as it is printed on the gauge or the box, for example 350-040-011G or A2C3833450030, or search by the EAN barcode where the listing carries one. If a number does not come up, send it to the parts desk and we will cross-reference it.
How long does delivery take, and is it free?
Orders are delivered across South Africa in 3 to 5 business days to main centres and 5 to 7 business days to regional areas. Delivery is free on orders over R5 000 with MDS Overnight or MDS Economy.
Do you sell VDO marine gauges?
Yes. Cockpit International marine gauges are listed under Marine, together with the OceanLink and ViewLine instruments, digital displays and sensors made by Veratron, which took over the VDO Marine range. Many marine lines are quoted to order: add them to a quote and the parts desk confirms the price.
