Hourmeters

VDO hour meters record engine or machine running time for service intervals, warranty records and hire billing on tractors, earthmoving plant, generator sets, compressors, pumps and boats. The range covers 52 mm Cockpit International hour meters in 12 V and 24 V, including an illuminated 24 V version.

An hour meter needs no sender. Wire it to a supply that is live only while the engine or machine runs, such as the ignition-switched feed or an oil pressure switch, so that it does not count while the key is on and the engine is stopped. Pick the voltage to match the system, and order a matching 52 mm bezel or mounting cup if the panel has no cut-out. Record the reading at each service so the next interval is easy to plan.
