Fuel Level Senders

VDO fuel level senders, also called fuel gauge senders or tank senders, for cars, bakkies, trucks, generators and boats. Universal senders come in two styles: lever-arm senders with a float on an adjustable arm, and tubular senders in fixed lengths with a 54 mm or 80 mm body for heavy-duty tanks. Vehicle-specific senders and fuel pump sender units replace the original part in Volkswagen, Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Ford, Renault and Land Rover models.

A fuel gauge sender must match the resistance range of the gauge: VDO lever-arm senders read 3 to 180 Ω and tubular senders 90 to 3 Ω. For a tubular sender, measure the tank depth from the mounting flange to the floor; for a lever-arm sender, check the flange hole pattern and the arm length.
